Wow! I can’t believe we are in the 2nd half of the year already! I hope you all had a great break and enjoyed some extra time with your sweet kiddos.
Musical Instruments: Your kids did a great job on their instruments! Thanks for your help in this project. We will be using them throughout this week and they will come home when we are finished with them.
BFG: Your family received a copy of the BFG the day before Christmas break. This is our school wide book for the year. The book club is designed so that each family reads the book together and then comes to Family Literacy Night to enjoy a night of activities based off of the the book. Family Literacy Night will be on Thursday, March 2nd. This book is above a 2nd grade reading level and is very difficult for a 2nd grader to read independently which is why it is essential for you to read it together. Along with the book came home an information sheet and on the back was a glossary of some of the many made-up words found in the book. I hope this is a great memory that you can share reading with your child.
Report Cards: Report cards will be sent digitally on Friday. I have created a packet of supporting documents (like I had at conferences) that will help to clarify their scores. These packets will come home at the end of the week. Let me know if you have any questions about this.
What we are learning this week:
Math- Working on Subtraction Fluency (Topics 6-1 through 6-4)
Writing- Beginning opinion writing
Reading- Reading strategies (Comparing and Contrasting)
Science- Sound
Spelling- List 13 https://www.spellingcity.com/view-spelling-list.html?listId=38514776
